Currently based out of Pittsburgh, Missy has been "changing the comedy scene" (City Paper) in Pittsburgh. She is a graduate from Point Park University's Conservatory of Performing Arts, the NSAL Award Winner 2005 and went on to represent the PGH Chapter in Honolulu, Hawaii at the National Competition , Missy has been featured at the ARCADE COMEDY Theater
sharing all her works from, her original musical comedy works :"MISSY MORENO & FRIENDS: A Musicomical Adventure" themed variety hour and as an improviser in various shows, "Lisa Mizzelli" a one-woman cabaret extravaganza and cutting edge improv and innovative musical comedy productions with her current comic partner Connor McCanlus as "babyGRAND".
babyGRAND have been called "improv masters" (PGH City Paper) and (Pittsburgh Magazine) and have appeared at Chicago Music Improv Festival, Chicago Improv Festival, Philadelphia's DuoFest Improv Festival, Pittsburgh Comedy Festival as well as opening for "Who's Line Is It, Anyway?"'s Laura Hall.
Missy has been with many fine amazing theaters in PGH like Bricolage's immersive, "Welcome to Here" as part of the International Children's Theater Festival, Pittsburgh Musical Theater's "Sister Act" at the historical Byham Theater in Downtown PGH, "Young Playwrights Festival" with City Theatre, Kinetic Theater's critically acclaimed "The Christians", No Name Player's "VIVA LOS BASTARDITOS!" and SWAN DAY, Front Porch Theatricals "VIOLET" and currently "Big Fish The Musical" as THE WITCH. As a comedian, Missy has played and trained at the legendary Chicago's Second City (Skybox, Conservatories of Improv/Music), Annoyance Theater, and IO(formerly Improv Olympic).
There her love for IMPROVISED MUSICAL COMEDY flourished and culminated in her co-creation of improvised rock band RESET LIST. RL has played the New York City Music Improv Festival, Chicago Improv Festival and venues throughout the country.
Chicago acting credits include the Jeff Award winning production of "The Original Grease" with Jim Jacobs (original writer of GREASE) for American Theater Company, and Co-Ed Prison Sluts, the longest running musical in Chicago's history, with the Annoyance Theater under the direction of Mick Napier. Missy also enjoyed the lively children's theater work with the CHICAGO KIDS COMPANY in roles with "Three Little Pigs" and "Cinderella" as the "Fairy Godmother" . Passionate for children's education and entertainment, Missy has worked with Chicago Kids Company, Storytown (IO, Chicago) ,Saltworks Theater (Pittsburgh) and relishes babysitting her friend's kids!
As a teaching artist, Missy works as a resident Acting and Improv instructor with the Pittsburgh CLO Musical Theater Academy of Performing Arts. She has guest taught with Act One School, Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership, Donna Belejac Casting, Nancy Mosser Casting, Coalition Theater in Richmond, VA to name a few.
Missy has been seen all over the place as a Digital Video Producer for the online entertainment channel, 4 the 412, as part of WTAE TV Channel 4 Pittsburgh Action News which aired from June 2015 to Dec 2016 as part of an experimental project from HEARST Media Corporation. All her work can still be found online!
Being a proud Steel Valley girl who loves PGH, some fun she's done in the city includes being a "Just Ducky" Tour Guide, regular singer of the National Anthem for the National WALK MS at The Point, hosting events all over town like the Annual Weiner Dog Race at the Waterfront and has even been a special guest at "Kennywood Park" for the "Twas the Night Before Christmas" !
